Picasa’s Name tagging – perfection!

For a few years now I have been using Picasa to manage my photos, and having over 43,000 of them (230 GB) it matters to me if it works quickly, effectively, and intuitively. I’ve always been happy with Picasa’s ability to quickly crop, color correct, and perform basic editing on my photos, and it’s organizations structure is superb. You can arrange photos based on your folder structure on your computer, when the photos were taken, and a few other nice options as well.

The latest feature that I am beginning to really like is called Name tags. Name tags scans all of the pictures on your computer (in the background don’t worry) for faces, and as it finds them puts them into a collection for you called “People”.  Once they are in the “People” collection you can begin to start tagging them. The beauty is that Picasa learns what people look like and makes this process much easier than a manual, one-by one process.

Check out the video here to see how it works.
